Building blocks for grownups!

• Custom designed with the client’s ideas for the site in mind, it came together well and looks rustically robust. The clear instructions and layer by layer fitting guide suppled made the job of building efficient. The nature of the task decrees a fair amount of ‘clout’, but do trust the designer’s colour coded ‘map’ when piecing the kit together. Two comments: The metal brackets used to secure buttresses do have an effect on fitting, as they are not recessed between block layers. Their accumulative thickness means longer blocks may not sit so well. They tend to ‘rock’ over the spot. A way round is to cut the block at this point, to allow the ends to sit level with those before and after. Secondly, I suggest that the holes tin the capping, should also have the recess ring to allow the capping to sit snugly onto top block layer. While the capping is now tightly on, there is a slight unnecessary gap between it and the top block layer. I haven’t included a photo for security reasons, but it does look good, made more of, with the addition of fence downlighting.

A very clever way to build raised flower beds

• WoodBlocX is an ingenious way to build raised beds in a garden. Effectively it is building wooden raised bed frames in a a similar way to Lego bricks. The wooden blocks have a square cross section of 10cm x10cm and come in various lengths. Each layer of the blocks is secured by plastic dowels which ensure a very rigid structure to be quickly built. The website is superb and enables a user to think what type of raised bed layout that they would like. When a rough plan is submitted to WoodBlocX a very clever designer produces a superb 3D picture of your rough plan and a detailed layer by layer of how to build the structure. This only takes a few days and once ordered the delivery soon arrives on a very secure pallet. Construction is a pleasure for any competent DIY enthusiast which can only be dampened by the atrocious wet weather that I encountered during the task. Nevertheless I did ensure that the the structure was level and looked like the original design.

• The website is easy to use and you can change the sizes easily to check the prices. Always despatched quickly with plenty of communication by email. The delivery company is Palletways and they always call to book in the day of delivery. If I am not at home the helpful driver leaves the pallet for me exactly where I asked for it to be left. The pallets are always well packed to ensure the items arrive in good condition. Clear assembly instructions are sent by email. Just love this company and their products.

The retaining plates could have clearance holes to make fitting over the dowels easier. Disappointed given price paid and online pictures

• Like custom build and clear comms on delivery. 4* as the delivery driver firstly came a day early when no one was in and threatened to leave the delivery on the pavement and leave. Then on delivery, I was surprised they just leave the wood on the pavement and go. Took ages to transport the wood into the garden.

Garden pond for Lego enthusiasts.

• Slight delivery delay (3 days), but not a problem. Downloaded instructions easy to use for wooden building blocks, although instructions regarding liner a bit incomplete/vague (eg. No hints or tips regarding making holes in liner through which to pass the final layer of pegs - in the end I used a craft knife, cutting around a 2 p coin). Overall, however, very satisfied with the end result.

• Found on line and looked good. Being able to design the size I wanted was the main reason I chose them. I had a few queries and phoned and got great feedback. I ordered on line a raised bed 2 * 1 meter approx. It arrived as I wanted 4 days later. The courier service was excellent and the guy left it where I asked. I completed the build within one day. They make it quite clear to have a flat service. I was putting it on soil so did the best I could. I could have done better but with a bit of adjustment during the build, finished. Spending time preparing the site is a must. The raised bed looks great.

• Recently received my new raised bed. Ordering on the website was fairly easy however one thing that was slightly annoying was the delivery date which changed a few times. One date was offered on the web page before I ordered then after I made the order it changed again and once again when I was asked to pick a day for delivery it changed.. I did have to contact customer services on 2 occasions and the staff were very quick to respond. The guy who delivered it was also excellent. The product itself was pretty easy to put together on my own and looks great now it's been put together.

Looks solid and very presentable and not difficult to construct

• My main concern was whether at my age (84) I would be able to handle the delivery and construction. The answer is Yes. Because no component is unduly large, I was able to build an L-shaped pair of beds for herbs that will serve the purpose exactly as intended. LEGO FOR GROWN UPs

• WoodBlocX is a very cleaver system of pre-cut wood "Blocks" rather like LEGO. Oncde you have decided you want a raised bed get in touch with the staff and they will work out exactly what you'll need. Your order will arrive on a pallet, all you need is a lump hammer (or rubber mallet) and the page by page (layer by layer) instructions. I previously ordered and built a large (eight layer) "L" shaped raised bed on my from hard stand and decided I wanted to extend it to a "U" Shaped raised bed. Provided a rough plane and very soon after was give a plane and a price both of which were very acceptable. Rest assured that if you have (Unlikely) an issue with any part of your project then a quick email to Scotland will result in a fix. I am very happy with my project and have no hesitation in recommending WoodBlocX for your garden project(s).

• We ordered 2 large raised beds, reasonably easy to put together. Came with spares (Which I made a small herb garden from!) I did have to email about the delivery as I had not received confirmation from Palletways who deliver on their behalf, however I had a response straight away from WoodBlocX which clearly prompted Palletways to confirm a delivery date/time. Renewing a WoodblocX Raised Bed

• A replacement raised bed has been purchased. The original lasted only 7 years but was not lined at the outset. This in itself was disappointing. On removal of the original it was very rotten! The new material was delivered on time and had a number of spare pieces. It went together well. Replacing an existing bed with a new one was more complex than erecting from scratch particularly for the strengthening spurs with pins as these need digging out. In addition, we need to devise a means of keeping the soil in place once the original bed was removed. We did this by sliding slates down between wood and soil and it worked! The new bed went together well and the plan was very good. The key was levelling before building. Liner and slate have been used between wood and soil on this occasion. Liner has also been put over all strengthening spurs.

Lovely product send paper instructions

• Very good product. Only gripe is that printed instructions weren't sent with the raised bed. I don't have a printer so was annoying that after spending nearly £1k on this they couldn't print out 5 pieces of paper

• Used Woodblocx previously so I know the score re quality, ease of build etc. Black Friday discount didn't go wrong either! Delivered promptly as per usual. Good communication and customer service from the courier to boot. Buildt during the really cold spell but it fitted together perfectly. Had to build into a slope so built on a part bed of sleepers with flat plates screwed in between the sleepers and the woodblocx plus 4 hole sleeper spikes fixed to both. Solid as a rock! Ready for veg planting next year

Great system

• I used WoodblocX to build some retaining walls and it's a great system, I have mobility problems but this is easy to manage and ultimately very satisfying when complete. Curved edges are tricky but my advice would be to read the instructions on receipt of delivery and then read again when starting the job, customer support is also very good. I would recommend without hesitation.

A reliable service but delivery could be better.

• The woodblocX concept is excellent. The detailed instructions are spot on and easy to follow and putting it together is child's play as demonstrated by our grandchildren, 13y, 10y and 3y! Our granddaughter was very good at putting the pegs in for her older cousins. We would have given 5 stars if the delivery times had been more accurate. Although we had asked for a date several days more than the minimum it didn't arrive on the date so be prepared for the delivery to be at least one day later than asked for. WoodblocX does say it may not be on the day requested. Although the video says there is a Saturday delivery, our distribution centre did not offer a Saturday. We also had to phone to find out when the delivery would be as we had no notification.

Pond not really up to scratch and poor instructions didn't help

• The general instructions listed on the website weren't really suitable for the pond I bought. Had to write multiple emails to get a limited step by step PDF, and finally was given a more useful Youtube link after I'd built the thing. The pond liner bunches horribly though and can't be made flat — the video showed no solution to this. Also, if you don't put full weight on the dowel removal tool to get it into the slot before turning, you'll also wreck your chances of getting it out as it just goes round and round. This isn't made clear and ended up having to saw five dowels off.

We have checked the confirmation email that was sent to you at the time of the order and can confirm the PDF build instructions were included. The liner provided is a universal size which is to be cut to length in order to fit the pond purchased by the customer. Cutting the liner to the correct length will minimize any bunching described. If you require a new liner or any additional dowels or blocks, please send some photographs of the problem to us at [email protected] and we will be happy to send you replacements.

You too can build a pond!

• Great to have all the tools in a neat bag! The Lump Hammer did the job really well and has been used a lot since for other projects. I did have a bit of difficulty lining up pegs and holes but got there in the end. The capping mitre joints didn't align perfectly because of this so I just filled in the gaps. I also didnt' use the capping brackets, but the pond is fine. If I can build a pond solo as a 69 year old woman, I think anyone can! I had a bit of a struggle with the enormous liner in a small space and there was a lot left over that I will have to find a use for. So glad I ordered a deep pond!

Only problem was that we had to unpack the pallet to carry parts to rear garden and they were subsequently rained on resulting in some parts swelling and not fitting correctly. After drying out under cover we were able to complete the build. As these are made from softwood I perhaps should have been aware of this potential problem. Next time I will make sure to keep the parts dry until required.

Good Product

• Order dispatched very promptly - and was actually delivered a day early. Fortunately, I was home to take delivery. I had ordered a large rectangular raised bed with crop protectors - assembly was very easy. I was building on an existing concrete base and was provided with angle brackets to fix to the ground. The only screws that were provided were wood screws and I contacted customer services and explained the problem. They said they would send me the required parts. Unfortunately, what I received was more wood screws! This is my second order with Woodblocx and, on both occasions, I have had items omitted from my order. Hence, the 4 stars. Curious as to what level of checking goes on prior to dispatch.

A beautiful addition to our garden

Quality order

• I was short of a couple of block on my order. This was quickly resolved and sent via 48hr courier. Site preparation is key. Wall and beds fairly simple to erect. When using spikes in "soft" ground it's a good idea to ensure there are not stones in the way of the spike. If it gets redirected this can upset the level/setting of the block.

Briliant addition to the Garden

• Excellent with easy to follow plans adding the second level on top of the first was quite difficult as the ground was uneven. This was rectified by getting Post-create to level the ground out and trying again. not many issues after that and the result is in the photo, also found googling filling a raised bed a plus as its amazing how you can fill it without the expense of soil all the way.

Small pond

• My experience in buying a WoodBlocX feature has been a pleasure from start to finish, it was easy to order and came within a few days. I was informed of the delivery date and was contacted a few days before and on the morning of my delivery. The feature I chose was to be used as a pond and does the job great it was very easy to build (even for me) and I am now obsessed. I am waiting for my liner to settle before fixing the capping properly but I am over the moon and would highly recommend getting a WoodBlocX feature whatever you are going to use it for.

Good product - let down in other ways

• While I really like the product, the delivery service was poor. System not updated to state when it was going to be delivered. Only called to provide a date after the estimated delivery date, just poor communication. I feel that Woodblocx should assist with this, not just wash their hands of it once it has left them. Also, I ordered too much of the lining. I feel like WoodBlocx should indicate how much you require for the size of raised bed you have ordered. Wasted £30.

• We were able to specify the size of raised bed we wanted. Easy to order and delivery prompt and efficient. All parts were carefully wrapped and secured on a pallet. Everything was there plus a few spare pieces in case of breakages. Easy to follow on line manual. Everything slotted into place. Rather too much of the one-size liner for it, but we were so pleased with the end result that we may order another bed and use the rest of the liner!

• We have just built our second raised bed, the first used as a water feature. Both were fairly easy to construct but on both beds we abandoned using the plastic joiners on the top edges because we could not get them lined up and so screwed them into place. • I have now built 4 raised beds using WoodBlocX. Delivery was very quick and efficient. Assembly of simple rectangular beds was easy and straightforward. I built my beds directly on to a soil base. The critical thing is to make sure the base is absolutely level otherwise fitting the blocks together can become tricky.

Plans supplied matched all requirements. All went well, no problems.

• Planning supplied matched exactly what I needed. Build was on top of existing 10mm gravel (on sloping ground), so levelling off was only difficult part of the build. The ground slope meant that lowest build level was 1 course lower than whole area, so this meant L1 was only half size of L2. But after that, all went well. Final top copings not added yet due to weather constraints, but can't see any problems there.

• I was unaware that the blocks would be delivered in such a raw state, unfinished different sizes within the two sizes provided. This meant that at times it was difficult to line blocks and fit. Disappointing

• I was advised delivery date so we waited in until approx 15.30 when I phoned to advise that date had just been changed. I had been checking it all day. Young lady I spoke to was excellent and said I would get a phone call from delivery depot. I was not impressed. Female asked are you in tomorrow morning Friday. I advised not to deliver between 11 and 3 as there would be no parking due to Mosque. I had advised this when I ordered. knock on the door at 13.32 just as one lot of prayers was finishing. Driver got pallet as near to our alley as he could although it blocked the pavement. I said it didn't matter. Driver was good I didn't ask if he got message about when to deliver. The wood was very disappointing looked nothing like the photos. I was surprised how green and wet a lot of the blocks were. We are putting it together now as warm weather has now dried it. I chose your product, because although it was a lot dearer that others it looked the best quality. However I am now unsure if any of the other companies cheaper products would been just as good? Would I recommend your product? I am unsure. They look more like railway sleepers than pine. I really do not believe we have pine although my husband does not want me to say it.

• The correct raised bed was delivered on the promised date. My husband checked all the components were there and left it as you see it, on the lawn!!! Nothing wrong so far. Rest of the pegs etc are safe in the shed. The coloured directions copied from your site are very good. But as far as we are concerned , a couple in their 70’s, it would have been helpful to us, if the blocks could have been marked on the tops either yellow or mauvey/browns to correspond with printed directions. The markings would not be seen as they would be covered by the next row or capping. As I am the practical one of us and as l have never done this before I do not fancy crawling around on the grass with a dodgy knee sorting everything out. Don’t get me wrong, if this turns out ok I will be back for another one or two even. I am really excited to get this up and running. This is not a complaint just pointing out that not every thing fits every person.

• This product is well thought through and very well made. Assembly is very straightforward with clear instructions. As we were making a pond we were very careful with levels. Elected to get a box welded butyl liner which simplified installation and looks very neat. It’s definitely worth checking holes for the odd bit of wood chip left over from manufacturing. The plastic dowels interlock and make for a very strong structure. Supplied with some extra wood pieces and plastic dowels in case of mistakes. 100% happy and recommend.

• The website was very informative and made it easy to decide what we wanted and how it would fit into our garden. The order process was straightforward and delivery followed a few days later. We have built the raised bed on what had been a sloping pathway but we had levelled out the location beforehand. Once we were satisfied that the bottom row was perfectly level and in the exact location we wanted, assembly was relatively simple and then we lined the insides before adding the capping. It has since been filled with top soil and compost and the first veg plants are in and looking good..! It looks great and we have no hesitation in recommending this product and the company. We might be back for something else very soon to install a different feature in another part of the garden.

• Great sturdy new replacement veg box, easy to put together although even on flat concrete base, some blocks didn't line up properly horizontally or vertically. Didn't notice the labels on the palette when it arrived stating that it should be unwrapped straight away, so it remained wrapped for too long.

Good results, but…..

• Overall pretty good, but bought 2 items the same and expected these to be packed as 2 separate kits, but completely mixed together. Made it that much more difficult to sort out the individual kits before assembly. After assembly we were left with 14 assorted wooden blocks and fittings. Took 2 of us 2 half days to build these. Because they are semicircular the blocks do not fit together exactly to get the shape and when you get the top it very difficult to fit the final caps in place. Instructions not clear, don’t see the sense in colour coding as none of the blocks are coloured. End result looks good though, but for the money could have been more user friendly.

Poor quality wood and workmanship

• Delivery was on time. However, beyond that the Woodblocx experience has been terrible. The wood was packed wet and delivered soaking with some pieces covered in mould. The blocks were different widths and not all the holes were central. The finish was terrible with ends requiring sanding (especially on the capping pieces) and some holes not fully drilled. I would not recommend and would not reorder.

• I bought Woodblox for a raised bed for growing vegetables. The instructions were good and the coloured plan helpful, although the plan on the page was at an angle and I had to keep thinking which side was which. The plan on the last page was much better because it was straight on the page. The first row of Woodblox was straightforward but it became more difficult, especially with the longer blox on the second row. The dowels in the first row didn't always line up with the holes in the blox for the ssecond row. . My fault I am sure, but you have to be very precise with levels. I found it easier to put the dowels into the upper block and then put the pointed ends into the holes in the lower level. I bought a second one which was much easier second time. They look good.

• The blocks were of varying sizes and the holes needed to align but there were no instructions as to what order to place them in and how to tackle the corners so it would knit. I would recommend it for smaller projects. Large projects require more than one person with muscles.

Woodblocx Good, Shame about Palletline.

• Very Good and professional. I have had to knock off a star as in spite of Woodblock assuring me and marking the paper work their deliverer still came in a large vehicle and the poor driver had to struggle to get to me. He was outstanding and managed with the help of my neighbour. I spoke to Palletline the day before delivery and was told that the paperwork was marked so not Woodblocx's fault and I know you say kerbside delivery to maybe should not have ordered.

Too hard for me…..

• It has proved MUCH harder than I thought to put this together. Partly my fault because the ground was not level and that took loads of preparation. Then I found when I hit the stakes in that if they hit a stone on the way down they went crooked and put the whole thing out of alignment again. I am now stuck trying to get a stake out. I think your advert makes it seem too easy. It suggests a child can help but I am on the point of giving up……

Elevated garden railway

Raised beds planters

• Second big purchase, easy to build following the instructions. You have to cut the plastic dowels to fit the coping which is time consuming, given the volume they produce you’d have thought that shorter dowels would be provided in the kit. Very sturdy and looks great

Great idea

• Ordered a pond and retaining wall. Pond liner was missing from delivery but I contacted them and they sent it immediately. The blocks were all wrapped in one pallet so it took a while to work out which ones were pond and which were retaining wall so it would have been good if the two products were packaged separately. The products are really good though, sturdy and robust and easy to build. Really pleased with them and would definitely recommend

• It’s not that easy to align how it’s show in video. I was thinking to buy 10 but no for me as nothing special or wow factor, don’t needs to pay this high price for design. I asked Thursday delivery but phone came on Thursday to arrange delivery so not clear.

Excellent product, easy to build.

• We loved that this product could be ordered to our desired dimensions. This prevented us needing to cut down any large lengths of wood. The raised bed was really easy to build. You do need to make sure you have the tools recommended. Our only niggle would be the need to trim down dowels in order to put on the top board. Surely a pack of shorter dowels could be provided for this purpose?

Room for improvement.

• The end result is a sturdy raised bed that I am sure will last for may years. However: 1) As reported to, and discussed with WoodBlocX the delivery was a mess. The wrapping was undone and I received a pile of loose bits lying on a pallet. Two bits were missing and eventually found on the floor of the delivery lorry. 2) The wooden blocks shown on the website and in the associated videos look (and are) much nicer than what I received. There was a degree of "rough and ready" about the blocks I received. Several of the bored holes needed tidying up before the dowels would fit properly. Not a disaster but not really premium product material.

Great product and speedy delivery

• I found the product easy to work with because of its intrinsic block design and fixing method.the alternative would have meant large blocks of wood which would need to be cut and fixed together. The system gets over all these issues. It looks good and will look better with plants . Only issue was one flush capping holes did not align with remains of plastic which meant I had to drill bigger holes in the capping and shave parts of the plastic fixings to make it fit.

Very pleased with installation guides and finished product.

• The plans and instructions are excellent and the kit provided matches in every way. Curves are tricky however (mine was a bespoke design but the standard circle may be the same) because 4-hole capping has to fit on the top 2-hole layer. I needed to cut one to force the fit. But the overall effect is still great.

Very easy to build

• Exactly as described. Arrived on schedule, all parts included and clear instructions. It took about 4 hours for the two of us to build. The hardest part is getting the first layer level, but even that proved easier than we anticipated.

A very good system with helpful ‘how to’ notes and a good personal plan

• A clear and well worked out system. Essential to get first layer level and properly lined up which took time. Cutting the pegs before capping had to be carefully done. Suggestion: create different pegs for last layer eliminating cutting. Some capping mitring not quite true. But final result looked good and I am pleased with it.

Worth it but harder to put together than I anticipated!

• The customer service and help on the telephone from the staff was second to none- so helpful! The YouTube videos with instructions were helpful in how to put the structure together. Structure itself looks nice- only feedback is longer top edging, especially longer sections with 12 wholes can be very difficult to get on! Definitely not as easy as the video showed. Blocks themselves though easy enough once you get the hang of it.
